I got to play my sweet little female Witch Doctor, Donnie, in Diablo 3's Open Beta weekend recently. She is even more amazing than I was fantasizing about!

Oh cool. :D I have a level 60+ Witch Doctor and a level 60+ Barbarian. :) I love Diablo III. I don't play it as much as I could (I spend more of my limited free time drawing than gaming these days) but it's a great game and I love my characters. The witch-doctor was really hard at low levels (to me anyway) but now she's so badass she's easier to play than any of my other characters. :) :)

I had to take a hiatus from D3 for nearly a year; I just recently got back into it and I'm trying to push my Monk to L60 (which will be my first).

I really need to work on my Witch Doctor, though. She's hanging back in the early 20's, but I seriously need to do some research on pet-viable builds (hopefully pet-viable builds are VIABLE now, they weren't at release). If you have any Witch Doctory tips, I'd be very grateful!!

I actually do have some advice on playing a witch doctor. ;P I mean, it worked for me. Everyone plays in their own way, but for me, this worked best.
Because witch doctors don't gain XP as fast as Barbarians (and monks I think) I made sure to constantly upgrade my equipment to have as much XP bonus as I could find (and afford lol. I'm always broke in that game. XD)
XP is more important than intelligence at early levels. But if you're around early 20's, intelligence is very important too. So make sure you also have lots of intelligence bonuses in your equipment as well (which I'm sure you already do.)

The best main attack is the bouncing fire skull. I don't know what level that is, but it does damage to multiple enemies and has a good range. I have summon zombie dogs and summon zombie. My current zombie is either the Gargantuan or the Big Stinker. The Gargantuan grows and goes berzerk when it's hit and the Big Stinker has a poison AOE/DOT with him. My zombie dogs are life-leeching.

As far as passive skills I have Jungle Fortitude, Zombie Handler, and Fierce Loyalty. I don't remember what Fierce Loyalty does. ;P

With my Witch Doctor, I still get into the fray. I have weapons/armor with life-steal properties at the moment. Now that is something I really think is important. I started doing that later on with my Barbarian and saw what a difference it made! So I did it pretty early on with my Witch Doctor as well. After I got higher level I got rid of XP bonus equipment (because I didn't really need it) and opted to get something with some form of life-gaining properties. (life on hit, life on kill, life-steal weapons, etc) So as I'm fighting, it is hard for me to die because I'm constantly replenishing my life.

Anyway, I guess that's my tips. The XP bonus equipment early on and life-steal stuff later. :)
Oh, and my 6 year old daughter wanted me to tell you that she has a 26 Barbarian. ;P She's very proud of that (even though she spends most of her time in town). :meow:

I'm late to reply to this, sorry!

Okay... My Witch Doctor yesterday had been sitting at L21 for, like, a year. I checked her gear (it was all +Int heavy, not bad), but I didn't have any +exp. I replaced a few crappy pieces and began question.
Oh my gawd!!
The difference in the exp gain was phenomenal, WOW, that was such an amazing tip!! She went from L21 to L30 yesterday in several hour's playtime. I was floored.

I had just gotten the Gargantuan and had planned on using him, so he was already on my hotbar. I had to put in the zombie puppies, and I was so pleased to find them standing up to elites WAY better than they had been when I'd played a year ago (though, she's still on Normal difficulty).

I had never tried the Firebomb, so I replaced my Jar o' Spiders with it and fell in love with the skill. I also got the bouncy-effect after a few levels and that just made it even MORE epic!! It's perfect, thanks for that too.

I'm still working on the life-steal properties- right now my Firebomb + pets + Kormac the Templar kill everything with ease. I'll start looking for it as I level, though. I'll also start gathering that for my Barb, too, I hadn't thought about that.

And speaking of Barbs, congrats to your daughter on the 26 Barbarian! That's AWESOME! Does she have a male or female one? I think the females are so pretty.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that out for me, I'm feeling very lost in D3 after not playing for so long. I do have one last question; is attack/spell damage still based mostly on the DPS of your weapon, or is it more balanced now?

Since it had been a couple of months since I'd played, i was very awkward when I started again the other day. I used to have my hand-placement for my spells in such a way that I could hit my alt button (for seeing the names of things to pick up) my Q button (for healing if I needed it) Tab (for the map, obviously) and the number buttons without moving very much or looking. I started playing the other night and I almost died about 3 different times because I'd hit the Tab button by accident.

i'm very glad my tips and suggestions were of use to you. :) :) 21 to 30 in one sitting is pretty dadgum good. :D

My daughter's Barbarian is female. I also think they're very pretty. My first character, "Magnilda," was a female Barbarian. I enjoyed playing her a lot. I also really like the attitude and voice they gave her. With all my characters I use the Scoundrel as my helper, mostly because I like the banter. Listening to the Enchantress or the Templar talk bugs me. XD I know that's a silly reason to choose or not choose a partner but what ever. hahaha.

Regarding my damage, I don't know exactly what you mean by balanced, but honestly, with the Witchdoctor, I'm not sure what benefit my weapon has for me since I don't fight using my weapon. I have a voodoo doll in my off hand. My weapon is a life-steal dagger (I think) but I don't know if it's beneficial to me or not since I use the firebomb as my primary attack. :)

Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like it! The skull and warpaint were my favourite bits!

I think it took at least 3-4 days before I got an email saying they accepted my art. Just keep an eye out for an email.
